The Oxford Bus Group is looking to appoint a new Engineering Manager to the business, responsible for managing all engineering activities across Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel.
Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel has a combined workforce of almost 700 employees and operates 230 buses over routes in and around Oxford. Our Express coaches serve Heathrow and Gatwick 24 hours a day and we also operate the Oxford City Sightseeing Tour, and contracted coach services for National Express. We have more than 100 electric vehicles in our fleet and aim to fully decarbonise our operations by 2035.
Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the achievement of ongoing engineering targets and standards, ensuring the maintenance of the company’s public service and other vehicles at an efficient and economic level, such that they are maintained to a high standard so that the demands of the operations can be met.
You will continue the management of the EV deployment programme of over 100 electric vehicles, ensuring their performance is optimised and that vehicles remain under warranty terms.
To be successful in this role, you must have a proven track record within the transport sector for delivering key engineering targets and budgets. A solid understanding of H&S principles and Operator License / DVSA standards is also crucial to this role.
Being a skilled communicator will be key to this role as you will be supporting the Engineering Shift Managers and Supervisors to ensure maximum performance of their reports, through coaching and performance management. Experience of working in partnership with Trade Union Colleagues would also be helpful in this role.
