Auer/Shanghai – Since the beginning of July this year, Ricky Wu has been leading the Gruber Logistics office in Shanghai. The new Branch Manager, who previously worked in the company’s Project Operations division, will in future drive the growth and expansion of Gruber Logistics in the People’s Republic of China and neighboring regions. His main goals are to expand the services offered locally and to recruit top talent for his current team of three in the Chinese metropolis. The Gruber Logistics office has been operating in the market for over a decade as a hub for all of the logistics provider’s export and import business in the Far East.
Despite various political and economic challenges, the People’s Republic of China as the “workbench of the world economy” as well as the strong consumer markets in the United States and the European Union remain the most important global trade routes. With an office in the major city of 25 million inhabitants, which is home to one of the largest container ports in the world, Gruber Logistics’ transport experts can plan and implement efficient logistics operations for and with customers from around the world.
The 39-year-old logistics manager Ricky Wu already has more than a decade and a half of experience in the industry. With a Bachelor’s degree in International Trading & Logistics and an impressively rapidly advancing career at Gruber Logistics, he considers himself well-prepared for the new role. His plans for the coming years are ambitious and clearly defined: “My goal is to further increase our gross revenue and profit margin over the next few years. On the one hand, we will achieve this by advancing the development of our local activities, expanding the three-member team, and strengthening Gruber Logistics’ diverse services in the market to attract new customers. On the other hand, we are working to enhance service quality and scope for our existing clients and to execute every project as best as possible,” says Ricky Wu. The aim is to expand the team at the branch, which has been in operation since 2013, to five to eight people in order to meet growing demands and further optimize customer service.
The Shanghai location has established itself as an indispensable hub for Gruber Logistics and its organized logistics operations. The services in Shanghai include sea, air, rail, breakbulk, and RoRo options, as well as packaging, customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution / truck deliveries, covering a broad range of tasks for many customers.
“With Ricky Wu, we now have a dynamic, young, but already experienced manager at the helm of our Chinese office. With the support of the entire Gruber Logistics network and the employees working in Shanghai, we see a lot of potential at this location,” says Carsten Sommer, Executive Director Business Unit Project Cargo, Air & Ocean at Gruber Logistics.
