Europa Road is kicking off 2024 by boosting its service for customers looking to transit goods to and from Switzerland, a country showing significant growth in trade with the UK.
In November 2023, the Department for Business and Trade reported a 40 per cent increase in trade of goods between the UK and Switzerland in the four quarters to the end of Q2 2023, compared to the same period in 2022. During this timeframe the UK‘s goods trade specifically recorded a surplus of £13.9 billion with Switzerland, compared to £173 million in the four quarters to the end of Q2 2022.
Europa Road is the European road freight division of Europa Worldwide Group and provides market leading road freight services, operating the UK’s largest European groupage in Dartford. Its network of 17 sales branches (across the UK and the Republic of Ireland) manage the shipments of goods into Dartford, from where freight connects daily with direct services to 36 continental hubs.
From 1st January, 2024, Europa Road will make a change to its partnership arrangements in Switzerland, moving to leading Swiss Operator, Magsped. The new agreement supports Europa’s continued ambition to reduce export and import lead times for customers shipping to and from Switzerland, with the most exciting part of all, the launch of a market leading DAILY service in both directions from 1st March 2024.
Magsped provides quality, fast transit times and has excellent network coverage across the country including Basel, Zürich, Lucerne, Bern, Lausanne, and Geneva.
As part of continued investment in its services, Europa Road ships goods to and from the UK and Switzerland, with door-to-door collection and delivery within 48/72 hours, dependent on the location.
Europa has invested in its operation to provide the best system available today for distributing goods between the UK and Europe via part load, full load or groupage.
Europa’s purpose-built transit hub in Dartford provides more than 30 daily groupage services between the UK and the Continent. Known as the ‘1Hub,’ this £30m state-of-the-art groupage depot is located close to the Dartford Crossing. Today a record 40,000 consignments per month pass through the terminal seamlessly.
Operations Director at Europa Worldwide Group Dan Cook said: “By working with Magsped we can provide an improved seamless service using our expert in-house customs clearance expertise. Magsped’s excellent network coverage across prime locations allows us to transport goods seamlessly. But most of all the aligned ambitions of our two companies to invest in a true daily structured service is absolutely market leading and very exciting”
Beat Schweighauser, Managing Director at Magsped, commented: “We’re pleased to be supporting Europa’s customers with this new service – where we can work together to provide the highest level of distribution, ensuring short and reliable transit times.
